Tried as I Might, I Still Messed Up
Recently I needed to buy new bed sheets because my trusty fitted sheet that I used all the time got a small hole in it, that I proceeded to accidentally keep making worse each night I slept on it. The last time I made the hole bigger, I accidentally put my foot through it and then, while trying to pull my foot back out, made the hole 10 times the size it was when I first noticed it.
I went to the mall and in one of the department stores, I found the bedding section and proceeded to search for new sheets. See, I’m very picky when it comes to sheets. I have a specific preference for the feel of the sheets and it’s just not something I can satisfy through online shopping.
The first set I tried was definitely not for me. The next one was much better, but there were still other options so I carried that one around with me while I compared it to the others. Eventually I settled on a brand and type, now I just needed the right size and color. I found the color, but it was the wrong size. Thankfully right on the shelf below that was the correct color and size. I grabbed it and checked out.
I was so careful the entire time. I checked for the correct size, the brand, even making sure I was buying the bed sheet set complete with fitted sheet, top sheet, and two pillow cases. The problem is, I actually didn’t check all of that on the one I actually ended up buying. I just thought I did apparently.
When I got home, I took everything out and found the pillow cases first and thought to myself they were a little weirdly square but that’s alright, I don’t really need the pillow cases.
I set those aside and then looked for the fitted sheet, the thing I needed most. I couldn’t find it. It was as though that “top sheet” went on forever and was absolutely huge. Definitely too big.
It was only then that I looked at the package and label. Turns out I bought a Duvet cover set. But hey, at least it was the right color and size.
